April 28, 2008 - Online Business Systems announced today that it has again been recognized as one of the 50 “Best Workplaces in Canada.”
This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled annually by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada (www.greatplacetowork.ca). The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures.
Chuck Loewen, Online’s Founder and CEO, says, “It is such an honour to be named for the second time as one of the ‘Best Workplaces in Canada.’ When we made it onto the 2007 list, we carefully reviewed the results from each question that Onliners were asked in the survey, and then took steps to make improvements wherever possible.”
The steps taken obviously paid off as Online jumped from its #28 ranking in 2007 to #14 in 2008. “If we don’t pay attention to what Onliners are saying about our company, how can we expect to continue growing and making this the best company to work for and with?” says Loewen.
The competition process offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
“We work hard to make those five dimensions part of our everyday culture at Online,” says Ria Neuendorff, Director of Online’s People Care team. “We don’t wait until someone wants to leave Online to ask them why they’re leaving. We conduct regular check point interviews to find out why Onliners are STAYING and then work hard to do things even better.”
