Winnipeg, Manitoba – July 18, 2005 – Online Business Systems, an international provider of business and technology consulting and enterprise integration solutions, announced it has received the Integration Solution Provider Award for Excellence™. The award was presented at the 2005 Global Integration Summit, sponsored by the Integration Consortium (IC), in Banff, Canada, on May 25.
The IC is a global, non-profit, leading industry body responsible for influencing the direction of the integration industry. The members champion integration acumen by establishing standards, guidelines, best practices, research, and the articulation of strategic and measurable business benefits. The annual Global Integration Summit delivers a venue that is full of opportunity for peers and colleagues from around the world to collaborate on how to accomplish business and technology integration in practice as well as theory.
This year’s Summit offered a challenge that would raise the bar in the integration industry: vendors and solution providers were invited to rise to the challenge by participating in a real-time SOA Solution Showcase. Participants were given 27 hours in which to demonstrate their skills and technology and deliver a supply chain solution in real-time using an SOA-based business integration solution. The challenges encountered by the participants were true to life, including time constraints, narrow bandwidth and outages onsite, and third party site complications. All this while under the scrutiny of integration solution buyers. The Integration Solution Provider Award for Excellence™ was awarded to participants able to demonstrate a working solution at the end of 27 hours.
In the Integration Consortium spirit of collaboration, Online partnered with Sonic Software to develop a solution with a robust web application built in conjunction with the Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) based supply chain logic. The web application communicated with the ESB through a Web Service interface defined by the team. This approach allowed the teams to work effectively in parallel and create a robust solution in the limited time allowed.
Michael Kuhbock, Founder and Co-Chairman of the IC, said, “It has always been our belief that the IC would have to tackle the challenges of building and delivering integration solutions by being relentless in our pursuit of best practices through the eyes of the end user. Because of this, integration solution providers who participated in the SOA Showcase were placed under intense pressure and took on tremendous risk. After all, building a real time, successful business integration solution in a public forum takes a lot of courage and vision. They have been acknowledged by their peers and the end user community as serious players with technology that really does work. The IC is delighted that Online Business Systems succeeded in this challenge.”
“We are thrilled to have received this prestigious award,” said Chuck Loewen, President and CEO of Online Business Systems. “It recognizes the expertise and value that our customers have come to expect from Online. We look forward to participating in next year’s Challenge.”
