April 23, 2007 - Online Business Systems announced today that it has been recognized in Canadian Business magazine as one of the 50 “Best Workplaces in Canada” for 2007.
This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled for Canadian Business magazine by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada (www.greatplacetowork.ca). The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by a random selection of employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures.
“We are honoured to have been named as one of the ‘Best Workplaces in Canada,’” says Chuck Loewen, Online’s Founder and CEO. “Twenty-one years ago, Online was born with a commitment to treat all team members with respect and like friends, and to create an environment that promotes rewarding and fulfilling careers. That philosophy has become an integral part of our culture.”
The competition process offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
Online has worked hard to foster a culture built on those five dimensions. Loewen says, “It is especially rewarding to know that we are on this list primarily because of what Onliners themselves said about our company in the survey.”
More than 20,000 employees from companies across Canada participated in the 2007 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.
The 2007 “Best Workplaces in Canada” list and related stories appear in the April 23rd issue of Canadian Business magazine, available on newsstands and at www.canadianbusiness.com.
