Winnipeg, MB, April 6, 2009 – Online Business Systems announced today that it has again been recognized as one of the “Best Workplaces in Canada” for the third consecutive year.
This list of “Best Workplaces in Canada” is compiled annually by Great Place to Work® Institute Canada. The competition process is based on two criteria: two-thirds of the total score comes from a 57-statement survey completed by employees, along with their open-ended comments about their organization; the remaining one-third of the score comes from an in-depth review of the organization’s culture, including an evaluation of HR policies and procedures. The competition process offers a rigorous representation of the organization from an employee perspective, and an overall portrait of the workplace culture. Together, they provide crucial data relative to the five trust-building dimensions of a great place to work®: credibility, respect, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
This year’s list received over 230 nominations and approximately 30,000 employees participated in the 2009 “Best Workplaces in Canada” survey.
“We are pleased and honoured to be named one of the ‘Best Workplaces in Canada’ for the third year,” says Chuck Loewen, Online’s Founder and CEO. “Internally, we refer to this award as the ‘Peoples’ Choice Award’ because it is truly our people – Onliners – who are responsible for us being on this list. Each one of them is committed to making our team and our company a success.”
This commitment from Onliners placed Online in the top third of the list for the second year. And Online’s commitment to Onliners is just as strong, as demonstrated by its unique internal programs such as the “Explore the World” recognition events and the “Great Guides” training program.
Ria Neuendorff, Director of Online’s People Care team, says, “We have a unique culture at Online. When new Onliners are asked why they decided to join our company instead of others they were interviewing with, they typically say it was because of our people and our culture. We work very hard to maintain that standard every day.”
The 2009 “Best Workplaces in Canada” list is published on Great Place to Work® Institute Canada’s website and related stories appear in a Special National Report in the April 6th issue of The Globe and Mail.
