Online Business Systems and the University of Manitoba – Faculty of Medicine Honoured With Top Project Management Award

Winnipeg, MB (February 19, 2011); Online Business Systems, a leading North American consultancy for business and technology solutions, announced today that they, along with their client, the University of Manitoba – Faculty of Medicine, have been awarded the 2011 Project of the Year Award from the Project Management Institute (PMI) - Manitoba Chapter.

For the past seven years, PMI Manitoba has been recognizing and honouring the successful completion of projects whose team members have demonstrated superior performance in the application of project management principles and techniques (www.pmimanitoba.org/POY). Five projects were submitted to PMI Manitoba for this year’s Project of the Year competition.

Online and the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Medicine received the 2011 Project of the Year award for the Online Portal for Advanced Learning project (OPAL). OPAL is a fully integrated electronic Curriculum and Quality Management System that provides Medical Students and Faculty with a centralized information management and administration tool for knowledge transfer and enhances communication, collaboration and information sharing.

“Working together with Online Business Systems allowed the Faculty to mature the project management practices in our organization,” said Keith McConnell, Director of Operations, Office of the Dean, Faculty of Medicine. “The OPAL project has been very successful. Through OPAL we have revolutionized our business process. Together we’ve changed the medical student’s experience forever while forging a partnership with Online that strengthens the Province of Manitoba’s healthcare, education and economic competitiveness.”

“Over the last three years the Faculty and Online have developed a true partnership,” said John Frejuk, Vice-President, Consulting Services, Online Business Systems. “This relationship extends beyond the OPAL solution and includes a shared commitment to promote the OpalQM product to Faculties throughout North America.”
