Data Architect (full-time, remote)
What you'll do:
- Strategic Visioning: Lead engaging workshops and collaborative sessions with stakeholders to create clear and concise vision statements that capture the overarching goals and objectives of the data architecture initiative. Effectively communicate this vision to ensure alignment across the organization.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Proactively initiate and lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders, delving into their objectives, existing data landscape, challenges, and requirements. Leverage these insights to inform the development of robust data architecture solutions.
- Solution Design: Develop innovative and impactful data architecture solutions by collaborating closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts. Present proposed solutions to client decision-making committees, effectively articulating designs and addressing queries to ensure buy-in.
- Data Governance: Take ownership of instituting and enforcing data governance protocols, standards, and best practices to maintain elevated data quality standards. Implement data models aligned with business objectives, ensuring data integrity, precision, and security across large-scale deployments.
- Technical Leadership: Serve as a technical leader by providing adept guidance and mentoring to development teams. Ensure their alignment with architectural principles and standards while exploring emerging data technologies, industry trends, and best practices. Use your considerable expertise to optimize database performance and troubleshoot anomalies.
What we'd like:
- University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related IT discipline.
- 8+ years experience in building highly scalable data architectures to support distributed software applications.
- Proficiency in data modelling, database design, and data architecture principles is essential.
- Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, Redis).
- Proven experience with ETL tools, data integration, and data transformation processes.
- Competence in data governance, quality management, and security practices.
- Exposure to cloud-based data solutions and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Exceptional leadership and collaboration skills, enabling effective teamwork across diverse functions.
- Experience defining and enforcing good practices and procedures to steward data model changes through the SDLC.
- Familiarity and comfort working within an Agile development methodology.
- Experience working with Gen AI tools such as CoPilot a strong plus.
- Solid experience with UML and data modelling tools.
